Maureen 'Mo' Longo (b. 1985) is a composer and educator with a professional history spanning the competitive marching arts, the concert stage, and clinical music therapy. Currently traveling full-time, Mo brings over twenty years of expertise to local programs as a visiting clinician and commissioned composer.
Mo maintains a versatile compositional range, with a portfolio that includes works for marching band, indoor percussion, and concert ensembles. Her debut concert band piece, Remedy, was named the winner of the 2025 Silver Melted Into Sound composition competition, and her works have been featured at PASIC, OMEA, and the Midwest Clinic.
Mo’s pedagogical approach is informed by an extensive background of instructional leadership with premier scholastic and independent ensembles throughout the Midwest. Before transitioning to full-time travel, she served as the Percussion Director for Beavercreek City Schools and as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Dayton. This academic term was preceded by her work as a board-certified Music Therapist with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care.
A decorated performer, Mo toured the U.S. and Europe with the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps and Matrix Performing Arts. While a member of the Glassmen, she received two Distinguished Service awards as well as the 2006 Zildjian Outstanding Cymbal Player Award. Mo holds a Master of Music in Percussion Performance from Wright State University—where she was selected for the Honors Recital and earned first-place for her solo marimba performance—and a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy from the University of Dayton, where she was a three-time Honors Recital finalist and winner of the Concerto Aria Competition.
Mo is a member of ASCAP and proudly endorses Innovative Percussion products.
